8-1-14 fatal eaa plane crash

OSHKOSH, Wis. (AP) — The Experimental Aircraft Association says a pilot was killed and his passenger seriously injured when a plane crashed at the Oshkosh airport, where planes taking part in the annual AirVenture convention land.  EAA spokesman Dick Knapinksi says the plane went down on the southeast side of Wittman Regional Airport about 9:30 a.m. Thursday.  Knapinski says the man piloting the custom-built Breezy aircraft died from his injuries. 7-31-14 wi supreme court upholds voter id law

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — The Wisconsin Supreme Court has upheld a requirement that voters show photo identification at the polls, but the law remains blocked in federal court.  Thursday's rulings have no immediate impact given that the law was struck down in April by a federal judge in Milwaukee. His ruling is under appeal, and a federal appeals court would have to overturn it for the law to take effect. […]

7-31-14 arrests made in wendt’s on the lake burglary

One person is in custody and investigators are interviewing other people following a  burglary at Wendt’s on the Lake.  The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s  OIffice was called to the scene on Lakeshore Drive in Van Dyne shortly after 10pm last night.  Sheriff’s captain Rick Olig says shortly after the burglary there was an attempted car entry nearby.

7-31-14 small plane crash lands near eaa

Two people received non-life threatening injuries after a small airplane crash landed  on a small grass airstrip near the EAA in Oshkosh.  The crash landing happened about 3 p.m. Wednesday near a campground south of Snell Road near Vinland Road.  Oshkosh fire officials say the private plane was attempting to land on a grass runway at the Hickory Oaks Campground, when it lost power. The former Dodge County sheriff says the challenger in the Dodge County sheriff’s race is criticizing the wrong person over the Department’s new management information system. WASHINGTON (AP) —Janesville Republican Congressman Paul Ryan says he hasn't even begun to think over a presidential bid in 2016. The former GOP vice presidential nominee says there "really aren't deliberations," about a potential campaign and that he is just focused on doing his job.
