7-7-14 lakeside park committee

todayJuly 6, 2014

After tabling the matter at their last meeting the Fond du lac city council is expected to decide how to select a 15 member committee to discuss potential development options at Lakeside Park.  In a memo to the council city manager Joe Moore says the selection options include each Council member selecting  15 names from the list of applicants and returning  their list to the City Clerk by July 17th. The City Clerk will compile the rankings  and share the results with Council.  A second option also allows the Advisory Park board to make selections. Option three would be to pull 15 names from a hat.  Fond du Lac city councilmember Gary Miller says he wonders if it may be wise to hire a professional to help guide the committee and or council.    “There are times I wonder what are we doing?   We really don’t have a firm handle on what it is that  we want this committee to do,”  Miller told WFDL news.  “I don’t want them just to look at commercial development at Lakeside Park.”  Miller says he wants the committee to explore the overall utilization of the park.  Meanwhile Moore says additional applicants have asked to be considered for the Committee.   He says the  Council could re-open the application process until July 14th with additional qualified applicants added to the list.
