A Brownsville toddler who was seriously injured after he was run over by a lawnmower operated by his grandfather continues to improve. Dodge County Sheriff Pat Ninmann says she spoke with the grandmother of the three year old who said “he is doing great.” Ninmann says the grandmother said doctors were able to save most of his hand, with the exception of two fingers, and they were also able to do surgery on his buttocks that “has turned out very well.” The child was injured in the accident at his grandparents home in the town of Lomira last month. Ninmann says the grandmother thanked everyone for the great job and was very appreciative of the thoughts and prayers that they have received.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
