The Fond du Lac Fire Chief says a fire Tuesday that damaged a Fond du lac apartment complex started in the closet of one of the units. Four people were treated at the scene for smoke inhalation and one person was transported to the hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation following the fire at 180 North Butler Street. Fire chief Peter O’Leary tells WFDL news the fire was contained to the first floor apartment where it started. The unit is uninhabitable and there was smoke damage reported throughout the 20 unit building.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
