The Department of Public Works is warning motorists of the closure of South Brooke Street at the West 2nd Street intersection. The closure will begin Tuesday, July 22 and remain closed approximately two weeks. This closure will incorporate the excavation and removal of existing pavement, placement of curb and gutter, placement of concrete pavement as well as corresponding concrete curing times. Access to businesses adjacent to the closure will be maintained but may be limited. Motorists are encouraged to follow the posted detour of West Division Street, South Hickory Street and South Military Road. Motorists are reminded to abide by all traffic control signs and

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
