A Menasha man is in custody for speeding the wrong way on Highway 41 in Fond du Lac County over the weekend. On Saturday at 3:35am the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office received several calls stating there was a southbound vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed in the northbound lane of Hwy 41 at Lone Elm Rd. Deputies located the vehicle and attempted to stop the vehicle which was still traveling southbound in the northbound lane of Hwy 41 north of Winnebago Street in the Town of Friendship. The vehicle reached speeds of 103mph, forcing traffic to take evasive movement to avoid a head-on collision. Deputies deployed stop sticks at Hwy 41 and Johnson The vehicle did run over the stop sticks. The chase continued with the driver still traveling southbound in northbound lane. Fond du Lac County Deputies were able to deploy second set of stop sticks in Washington County. The vehicle became disabled at Hwy 41 south of Hwy 28 in Washington County. A 27year old Menasha man was taken into custody for Eluding an Officer, Reckless Endangering Safety, OWI-2, and other traffic citations. One vehicle in Washington County did take evasive movement to avoid being struck and side swiped a guard rail. No one was injured in the incident. The distance was 22miles. Alcohol was a factor.
