Dodge County sheriff’s investigators may be closer to making an arrest in connection with the theft of grave markers from three Dodge County cemeteries. Sheriff Pat Ninmann says detectives have made contact with one of two people described as persons of interest. Ninmann says the thefts at St. Michaels cemetery, a Beaver Dam cemetery and another cemetery in the town of Burnett appear related. Ninmann says investigators came up with two persons of interest after receiving a tip from the public and says detectives are “actively working on it.”

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
