7-24-14 gay marriage poll

todayJuly 24, 2014

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — The latest Marquette University Law School poll of Wisconsin voters shows a majority support repealing the state’s same-sex marriage ban.  The latest poll released Wednesday shows 56 percent of voters support repealing the state’s constitutional ban on gay marriages. The poll of 804 registered voters was done between July 17 and Sunday. It has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.5 percentage points.  In the previous poll, conducted in May, 55 percent of registered said they favor allowing gays and lesbians to marry legally, while 37 percent opposed.  A federal judge last month struck down Wisconsin’s ban, but for a week more than 500 couples were able to get married before the ruling was put on hold. The case is now pending before the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.
