On Sunday, July 27, 2014 at 3:32am the Fond du Lac County Communications Center received a report of a car versus motorcycle crash on Hwy 44 north of Douglas Street in the Town of Ripon. Preliminary investigation showed that both the car and motorcycle were traveling southbound on Hwy 44. The car was driven by a 25year old Green Lake man. The Green Lake man told Deputies that he was looking down at his radio when he struck the motorcycle from behind. The driver of the motorcycle was a 35 year old Ripon man. The driver of the motorcycle was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the car was not injured. Responding agencies: Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office, Ripon Fire Department and EMS, and City of Ripon PD. The crash remains under investigation by the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
