On July 29, 2014 at 6:29 p.m. The FDLFD responded to the area of the Lighthouse at Lakeside Park for a report of a capsized sailboat with two victims in the water of Lake Winnebago who were both wearing personal flotation devices. Upon the arrival of police and fire units located the boaters who were being assisted to shore by nearby citizens. There were no injuries. " The weather began to change as a storm approached", said fire chief Peter O'Leary. "We were encouraged to hear reports that both boaters were wearing their personal flotation devices which should never be an option".

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
