Fond du Lac police say they believe an Allenton man was planning to rob a car wash when officers arrested him. Police were called to Jet Stream car wash on Pioneer Road shortly before 4:30pm Monday to a report of a man who was possibly armed outside the business. When officers arrived they found the suspect hiding in a ditch near the business and recovered an air-soft gun. Assistant police chief Steve Klein says the suspect’s car was found idling nearby. Klein says the quick thinking motorist who called police probably helped prevent a robbery from occurring. Klein says the suspect was arrested without incident.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
