Two people were transported to the hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation following a fire Friday at the Comfort Inn in Fond du Lac. Two Fond du Lac men are in custody after being caught in the act burglarizing the former Rolling Meadows Nursing Home building. Assistant police chief Steve Klein says the incident happened Tuesday night. The building is being converted into a Senior housing complex and Klein says it appears the burglars were looking for construction related tools and equipment.
Waupun police say they are following up on a couple of leads in connection with a rash of vehicle entries. Police chief Dale Heeringa says the break-ins occurred Sunday night into Monday morning. Heeringa says it appears the break-ins were crimes of opportunity. Anyone with information is asked to call Waupun police.
