7-11-14 alert resident keeps dryer fire from spreading

7-11-14 boy dies after being trapped in grain bin

LANCASTER, Wis. (AP) — Authorities in southwestern Wisconsin say a 9-year-old boy has died after becoming trapped in a grain bin on his family's farm. The Grant County sheriff's office says crews were sent to the farm outside Lancaster this morning. WKOW-TV reports the boy was helping other family members try to fix an auger in the grain bin when he became trapped.

7-11-14 body of missing fisherman recovered

TOWN OF WINNECONNE, Wis. (AP) — The body of a missing fisherman has been recovered from a lake in Winnebago County.  The body of 52-year-old Roger Inderdahl was found near the east shore of Lake Winneconne Wednesday night. The Weyawega  man had been missing since Monday when he went fishing. His empty boat was later found running in circles on the lake.

7-11-14 same sex marriage

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Wisconsin has appealed a federal judge's ruling from last month striking down the state's ban on same-sex marriages. Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen filed the appeal today. The judge ruled on June 6th that the ban was a violation of gay couples' equal protection and due process rights. More than 500 gay couples got married in the state before the judge put her ruling on hold.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Wisconsin Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen says the state elections board does not have to turn over its investigative records to auditors.  Van Hollen said in a Thursday legal opinion that the Government Accountability Board does not have to provide investigative records to the Legislative Audit Bureau. A committee to study potential development at Lakeside Park is expected to be formed before the end of the month.  At their meeting Wednesday evening the council discussed having the 15 member committee selected by their July 23rd meeting. The council and Advisory Park board will make the selections with the top 15 making the committee.  More than 40 Fond du Lac residents applied to serve on the committee.  The initial idea was to explore […]
