MADISON, Wis. (AP) — All three Republicans running for Congress in Wisconsin's 6th District say they will self-impose term limits if elected. State Rep. Duey Stroebel, of Saukville, State Sen. Glenn Grothman, of West Bend, and State Sen. Joe Leibham, of Sheboygan, are running for the seat being vacated by Rep. Tom Petri, who is retiring after serving 35 years in Congress.

Fond du Lac based American Bank has acquired Waukesha’s InvestorsBank, a private, family-owned full service bank known mostly for its work with entrepreneurs and small businesses. American Bank is a wholly owned subsidiary of NEB Corp., which has assets in excess of $1.5 billion. InvestorsBank will operate under the American Bank name after the acquisition wins regulatory approval, expected later this year. MILWAUKEE (AP) — It's official: most of June was wet in Madison and Milwaukee.  According to the National Weather Service, Madison had about 9 and 1/2 inches of rain last month, which ranks as the fifth most on record. GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — Prescription opioids claimed the lives of about 300 people each year from 2006 to 2012.   Opioids are narcotic drugs like OxyContin, Percocet and Vicodin typically used for pain relief and contain a synthetic form of opium, the core ingredient in heroin. APPLETON, Wis. (AP) — Wisconsin road deaths are on the decline again in 2014.   215 people have died in traffic crashes as of June 30, compared to 226 on the same date in 2013.  Last year 527 people died on Wisconsin's roadways, a major decline from the 601 fatalities in 2012.  Donald Lyden, safety research analyst with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, attributed the decline to improvements and upgrades to […]

MILWAUKEE (AP) — Four Milwaukee Brewers are headed to baseball's All-Star game. Aramis Ramirez, Carlos Gomez, Jonathan Lucroy and Francisco Rodriguez will represent the National League at next week's game in Minneapolis. Ramirez will start the game at third base and Gomez is one of three National League starting outfielders.

7-7-14 brush fire

On July 6, 2014 at 2:40 PM the Fond du Lac Fire Department was dispatched to a brush fire at 778 Country Club Lane.  Upon arrival, fire crews found a small fire in the back yard of the home and were able to quickly extinguish it.  Bystanders reported that a resident had sustained burns and was transported to St. Agnes Hospital by a neighbor.  Fond du Lac Police Department assisted […]
