7-25-14 refugee resettlement

MILWAUKEE (AP) — The federal office that helps refugees settle in the United States has placed 50 unaccompanied children in Wisconsin. The Office of Refugee Resettlement released a state-by-state breakdown showing where children had been placed. It did not provide specifics on their locations. The office says it tries to place children with a parent, relative or family friend when possible.

7-24-14 fdl fire department responds to amonia leak

On July 23, 2014, at 11:45 PM the Fond du Lac Fire Department was dispatched to the smell of ammonia at 356 Dixie Street.  Upon arrival fire crews monitored immediate area around the building and found low readings.  The hazmat team was activated, members entered the structure, and found low readings.  They experienced higher readings on the roof of structure, so the management personnel shutdown refrigeration system in order to […]

7-24-14 local unemployment rate up

The local unemployment rate is up slightly in the latest reporting  period.  The state Department of Workforce Development says the city of Fond du Lac’s unemployment rate in June stands at 6.5 percent.  That’s up from six percent in May.   The June jobless rate in Fond du Lac County is up four tenths of a percent to 5.6 percent.  In Dodge County the unemployment rate increased from 5.8 percent […]

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Gov.
