City of Fond du Lac – Weekly Construction Update
The City of Fond du Lac is providing a weekly update on construction projects located within the corporate boundary. Motorists are advised to use caution and remain alert when driving though any work zone. Drivers are also encouraged to visit the City of Fond du Lac web site at http://www.fdl.wi.gov and view a map of the 2014 construction projects which may aid drivers in planning an alternate route.
15th Street from South Main Street to Ellis Street
Schedule:  April 2014 to September 2014
Description:  The project includes reconstruction of the sanitary sewer, water main, storm sewer, street, and lighting.  The street will be constructed to the 32-foot City standard.
August 4 to August 8:  The electrical subcontractor will begin installation of conduit and wiring for street lighting.  The concrete subcontractor may begin placement sidewalks, driveways and curb ramps.
Traffic Impacts:  15th Street is closed to through traffic.  It is illegal to drive past a “ROAD CLOSED” sign or to move any construction barricades. Residents, business owners, and customers may access properties past “ROAD CLOSED – LOCAL TRAFFIC ONLY” signs. Parking is not permitted on the street during working hours.
State Highway 175 at Fox Ridge Drive
Schedule:  May 2014 to August 2014
Description:  The project includes lane construction.
August 4 to August 8:  The striping subcontractor will place the pavement markings.
Traffic Impacts:  State Highway 175 and Fox Ridge Drive will remain open to traffic during this construction.  Traffic control and advance warning signs are in place and should be obeyed at all times.  It is illegal to move any construction traffic control signs, barricades or barrels.  Traffic may be temporarily restricted while crews are at work.
 East Arndt Street from North Main Street to McKinley Street
Schedule:  June 2014 to October 2014
Description:  The project includes reconstruction of the sanitary sewer, water main, storm sewer, street, and lighting.  The street will be constructed to the 32-foot City standard.
August 4 to August 8:  The utility contractor will continue installation of various underground utilities.
Traffic Impacts:  East Arndt Street is closed to through traffic.  It is illegal to drive past a “ROAD CLOSED” sign or to move any construction barricades. Residents, business owners, and customers may access properties past “ROAD CLOSED – LOCAL TRAFFIC ONLY” signs. Parking is not permitted on the street during working hours.
West 2nd Street and South Brooke Street
Schedule:  June 2014 to August 2014
Description:  The project includes reconstruction of the intersection to allow traffic onto South Brooke Street from West 2nd Street.  The project also includes reconstruction of sanitary sewer and storm sewer.
August 4 to August 8:  The concrete subcontractor will continue placement of sidewalk along West 2nd Street.   The landscaping subcontractor may begin restoration of the disturbed areas.
Traffic Impacts:  South Brooke Street will be open to traffic Tuesday, August 5, 2014.  West 2nd Street is closed to through traffic.  It is illegal to drive past a “ROAD CLOSED” sign or to move any construction barricades. Residents, business owners, and customers may access properties past “ROAD CLOSED – LOCAL TRAFFIC ONLY” signs.
Wilkins Street from Superior Street to South Military Road
Schedule:  August 2014 to October 2014
Description:  The project includes reconstruction of the water main and partial pavement repair.
August 4 to August 8:  No work this week.
Traffic Impacts:  Wilkins Street remains open to traffic.
Fond du Lac Avenue from Eleventh Street to National Avenue
Schedule:  August 2014
Description:  The project includes reconstruction of water laterals.
August 4 to August 8:  No work this week.
Traffic Impacts:  Fond du Lac Avenue remains open to traffic.
