Speed is believed to be a factor in a fatal accident in Dodge County. Shortly after 1am Satuday the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office responded to a motor vehicle crash on County G near County DE in the Township of Calamus. Preliminary investigation shows that a SUV was traveling West on County G. The driver lost control and struck a tree on the North side of the roadway. The driver, a 40 year old male, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by the medical examiner. Names are being withheld pending notification of relatives. The accident remains under investigation by the Dodge County Sheriff’s Department Crash Investigation

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
