The Fond du Lac County Clerk is expecting an average turnout locally for Tuesday’s primary election. The big race on the ballot is for Fond du Lac County sheriff, but there are also contested races on the Republican side for the 59th Assembly district and 6th congressional district seats. On the Democratic side there is a contested race for attorney general. County Clerk Lisa Freiberg says voters can only vote for candidates in one party. There is also a contested sheriff’s race in Dodge County.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
