The Fond du Lac city county government center was placed on lockdown Thursday afternoon as Fond du lac police responded to a report of a man armed with a gun who apparently entered a home across the street from the government center. Assistant police chief Steve Klein says police surrounded the area and entered the Western Avenue home but did not find the suspect inside. The lockdown was lifted at approximately 3:45pm. Police are continuing their investigation.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
