The Fond du Lac School District superintendent says he supports new guidelines for the high school newspaper that restore final oversight to the newspaper advisor. An internal committee developed the recommendations after the superintendent implemented a policy earlier this year that gave the principal and superintendent final say before publication. That was in response to an article that focused on the rape culture at the school. Superintendent Dr Jim Sebert says he is in support of the committee’s recommendations that call for more of an open public forum approach. The school board reviewed the editorial guidelines at a workshop session Monday night.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
