The North Fond du Lac school board has approved a preliminary 2014-15 budget. Superintendent Aaron Sadoff says the budget includes a projected deficit of 340,000 depending on final enrollment and equalized state aid. “We don’t know how many kids we’re going to have, that’s the third Friday count in September and also in January. We don’t know what the final aid from the state is going to be. We don’t know a whole bunch of other variables that will have an impact on what our levy is going to be,” Sadoff told WFDL news. “What I can tell you is from a taxpayer’s standpoint it doesn’t look like the local (tax) responsibility in the school district of North Fond du Lac will increase for our local taxpayers.” Sadoff says budget highlights include staff wage increases and safety improvements. “We were able to add $150,000 to our educators’ salaries. We’re also looking to improve safety. We are adding some cameras and video equipment to different areas, redoing some concrete to help with safety and asthetics.” Sadoff says the budget also includes an investment in family-consumer education. “We’re building a cafe, so its a lab where kids will be running a restaurant. We have Project Lead the Way..an engineering class.” The budget also earmarks $25,000 for a district-wide facilities study.
