A million dollar dredging project at Fond du Lac’s Lakeside Park is completed. Public Works Director Jordan Skiff says the dredging firm hired to do the project ended up hauling away more sludge from the park channel than originally expected. “We were very pleased with the amount of volume we were able to take out of the channels,” Skiff said. Skiff says an estimated 70,000 cubic yards of sludge was removed from the channels and dumped at a site in Lakeside Park west. “For the most part we got down to about seven or eight feet of depth. In some areas we decreased that to six feet because it was an area that wouldn’t get a lot of accumulating sediment in the coming years so it wasn’t as high a priority.” Skiff says the dredging firm was also able to remove some sand from the fisherman’s pier area.
