MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Democratic gubernatorial candidate Mary Burke won’t take the stage with President Barack Obama on Monday when he speaks at a Labor Day rally in Milwaukee. A Burke spokesman says it is not appropriate for Burke to speak at the rally Obama is attending because it is an official White House event and not a campaign rally. Governor Scott Walker also won’t be greeting Obama when he comes to the state.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
