The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office, worked with Police Agencies from the City of Fond du Lac, City of Ripon, City of Waupun, Village of North Fond du Lac, Village of Brandon/Fairwater, Village of Rosendale, Village of Oakfield, Town of Ripon, Village of Campbellsport and the Wisconsin State Patrol over the Labor Day Weekend. Deputies/Officers were out in force throughout Fond du Lac County during a coordinated effort to crackdown on drunken drivers, underage alcohol and seat belt violations on Labor Day Weekend. Additional officers were deployed through grants provided by the Wisconsin DOT Bureau of Transportation Safety during this event.
Results of the enforcement- The extra patrol resulted in:
437 traffic stops
253 traffic citations issued
283 warnings issued
20 OWI arrests
3 Underage Alcohol Citations
1 Social Hosting violation
7 other Arrests

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
