An assistant Fond du Lac fire chief received minor injuries in a two vehicle accident in Fond du Lac. Fond du Lac Fire chief Pete O’Leary tells WFDL news the accident happened Monday afternoon at the intersection of Macy and Second Streets. “Two vehicles were southbound on Macy and a vehicle trying to turn left onto 2nd Street from the wrong lane of traffic turned into a vehicle driven by one of our personnel driving one of our staff vehicles,” O’Leary said. O’Leary says assistant chief Steve Beer reported soreness in his shoulder and was transported to St. Agnes Hospital as a precaution.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
