9-25-14 elementary school phy-ed poll

todaySeptember 24, 2014

The American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network says a new poll shows an overwhelming majority of Wisconsin residents favor a half hour of daily physical education in school.   The poll found more than 88 percent of Wisconsin voters favor increasing the physical education requirement in schools.  Cancer Action Network government relations director Sarah Sahli says the network hopes a bill will be reintroduced in the next session of the legislature to raise the physical education requirements for Wisconsin elementary students.  The bill would require elementary schools to have 30 minutes of daily physical education for students.  .A public hearing was held on the bill last January, but time ran out on the session before it could be voted on.
