9-25-14 mother accused of beating,scalding young son

MANITOWOC, Wis. (AP) — A Manitowoc woman is accused of beating and scalding her 5-year-old son who has Down syndrome.  A probable cause affidavit says the Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Department received a call from health care providers at Aurora Medical Center Monday who said the boy had been brought to the center with heavy bruising on his back and scalding burns over half of his body.  The affidavit says the woman told investigators she was angry and repeatedly struck the boy on his back. When he defecated in his pants, she pulled made him stand in the shower under cold water. Authorities say she filled the bathtub with hot water and the boy sat in the scalding water.  The child has been transferred to Children’s Hospital in metro Milwaukee.
