MILWAUKEE (AP) — Wisconsin Republicans have filed a complaint with the state elections board, accusing the Democratic candidate for attorney general of misconduct in a sexual assault case. GOP Executive Director Joe Fadness says in the complaint that Susan Happ avoided charging the man who bought her house in 2009 until he paid off his debt. Happ is the district attorney in Jefferson County. Her office agreed in March to defer prosecution of Daniel Reynolds for allegedly sexually assaulting a teenage girl years earlier if he agreed to monitoring and evaluations. Documents show Reynolds paid off his debt in 2012. Happ’s spokesman did not immediately respond to a request for comment. The GOP announced the complaint after Wisconsin Democrats accusing the Republican candidate of letting a sex offender off too easy.
