A closed door meeting of the Fond du Lac County Board accidentally aired on television before county officials were made aware of the situation. County Clerk Lisa Freiberg says a citizen called police to report hearing sound from the closed door meeting Tuesday night. Freiberg says when she was made aware of the situation her initial reaction was to turn off all of the microphones in the legislative chambers. “That is what I did, when the sheriff came in, the city police department had received a call from a concerned citizen,” Freiberg said. “He (sheriff) came in and indicated to me that we were live. The only thing I could think of was muting the microphones.” Freiberg says a Charter Communications official isn’t sure why the audio was broadcast.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
