Fond du Lac school officials acknowledge Waters Elementary School staff in Fond du Lac made a mistake when they accidentally locked a six year old boy out of his class room during a drill. The student was in the bathroom when the drill happened and he did not hear the announcement. School officials say staff did not follow proper protocol by checking the bathrooms during the drill. The boy knocked on the door to his classroom but no one answered.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
