9-22-14 highway 41 traffic fatality

Washington County suffered its tenth traffic fatality of 2014 as a result of a two-car accident Friday afternoon. 9-22-14 sprint car driver killed in accident at beaver dam raceway

BEAVER DAM, Wis. (AP) — Sprint car driver Scott Semmelmann was killed in a wreck during practice for a race Saturday night at Beaver Dam Raceway.  Beaver Dam Raceway general manager Carolyn Mueller and Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprint Car Series President Steve Sinclair confirmed the death. 9-22-14 highway 23 resurfacing project

A highway 23 resurfacing project east of Fond du Lac starts Monday.  The $730,000 project involves a  four mile stretch from Log Tavern Road to the Fond du Lac-Sheboygan County line.  The highway will remain open during the project with flagmen controlling traffic.  The project is scheduled to be completed by mid-October.  The Wisconsin DOT says work will include new asphalt, pavement marking and new signs. Starting this week the north traffic and parking lane on West First Street between South Main Street and South Macy Street will be closed to westbound traffic. The closure will begin Monday, September 22nd and continue through Friday, September 26th during the daytime hours. The closure is due to a crane and roofing work  at 94 S. 9-22-14 fdl community development director retiring

Longtime Fond du Lac Community Development Director Wayne Rollin is retiring.  Rollin is stepping down October 3rd  after 34 years in public service.  Rollin started in Fond du lac in 1980 as the assistant planner for Fond du lac county and became the city planning director  in 1990.  Redevelopment director Diane Benson will replace Rollin as Community Development director.  Rollin will be recognized for his service at Wednesday's city council […]

9-20-14 waupun man finally receives purple heart

It took 70 years, but a World War Two veteran from Waupun has finally received the Purple Heart award he expected to get.  Eighty-nine year old Army Staff Sergeant Fred Zurbuchen was honored in a surprise ceremony yesterday at the E-A-A Museum in Oshkosh.  Zurbuchen was in his late teens when he was wounded as a B-17 gunner while flying on a mission over Germany.  Media reports say a fire […]
