An Oakfield woman has been sentenced to seven months in jail for having sexual contact with an inmate at a Waupun prison. At a hearing in Dodge County Circuit court, 40 year old Andrea L. Teschendorf was convicted of sexual assault by correctional staff. According to the criminal complaint, Teschendorf touched an inmate at the Burke Correctional Center in a sexual manner. She also is charged in Fond du Lac County with one count of second degree sexual assault by correctional staff. A status conference is set Oct. 3 in Fond du Lac County Circuit Court. She is accused of having sex with an inmate leaving his Fond du Lac County work release site.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
