Action Reporter Media, Action Printing, the Volunteer Center of Fond du Lac County and community volunteers will team up to build shelving, organize a new storage room and make blankets as well as participate in the annual Rake Relief project as part of the national Make A Difference Day event on Saturday, October 25. The Project Linus volunteers will be registered in shifts between 10:00 am and 3:00 pm. The project will take place at Lutheran Homes & Health Services, 244 S. Macy Street, Fond du Lac. Project Linus will provide beverages, snacks and a light lunch. Blanket kits and scissors will be available to volunteers. Volunteers are welcome to bring their own material and scissors. Volunteers will also participate in the annual Rake Relief project. An annual tradition, Rake Relief volunteers help clean up the yards of elderly and disabled members in our community. Volunteers will meet at McDermott Park on East Johnson Street (behind WLA) at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 25th. Individuals, families, teams and business groups are invited to participate. There will be some rakes provided but bring your own rake and gloves if possible. Dress in layers. A light lunch will be available at McDermott Park after the projects are completed. The Eden area 4-H Club members will be collecting paper goods in front of St. Paul’s Cathedral between 10 a.m. and noon on Saturday also. Please drive up and drop off your donation of napkins, tissues, toilet paper, paper plates and paper towels and help support the efforts of these kids to stock the Warming Shelter for the coming winter season. Volunteers are needed on Oct. 25 to help with both projects. To sign up, contact the Volunteer Center at (920) 926-1414. If you are elderly or disabled and would like your yard added to the Rake Relief list, please call the Volunteer Center.
