10-3-14 fdl police say craigslist altercation was not a home invasion

todayOctober 3, 2014

A Beaver Dam man has been charged following a disagreement over a transaction initiated on Craigslist.  Assistant police chief Steve Klein says the incident on Meadow Lane was not a home invasion.  Klein says the Beaver Dam man had advertised record albums on Craigslist and drove to Fond du lac to sell the albums to a couple who had responded to the ad.  Klein says a physical confrontation took place between the seller and homeowner following an argument over the selling price of the albums.  “When the subjects came to the Meadow Lane home there became a disagreement over the price that they had discussed over the phone versus what the homeowner was actually willing to pay.  That caused an altercation to take place,”  Klein told WFDL news.  Carlos Acevedo made his initial Fond du lac court appearance Thursday on multiple charges including disorderly conduct, criminal damage to property and battery.   Bail was set at $5000 cash.
