Waupun police are warning residents about a telephone scam. The Waupun PD has received a couple of calls from local residents. According to the complaints the male caller states that person has won the Publisher Clearing House sweepstakes and is eligible to receive $2-million dollars. To get the $2-million they have to obtain a $150.00 or $250.00 pre paid card from Walgreens in Waupun and then call back to claim the prize. The scammer will then ask for the routing numbers on the cash card removing the funds.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
