10-8-14 advocates on both sides hope supreme court goes on record over gay marriage

todayOctober 7, 2014

Advocates on both sides of the gay marriage debate agree the Supreme Court decision this week on gay marriage is not the end of the road for the issue.  The high court rejected appeals from five states seeking to ban same sex marriage  without comment.  Julaine Appling with Family Action Wisconsin says she believes the court will ultimately go on the record one way or the other.  “We know this is not the end.  Attorneys tell us that it would be highly unlikely if the U.S. Supreme court on this marriage issue,”  Appling told WFDL news.  ACLU Legal director Larry Dupuis agrees that he believes the U.S. Supreme Court will eventually issue a final ruling on the matter.  “Yeah I do think eventually their going to (rule) its not unusual for the Supreme court not to take cases when the circuit courts of appeals are in agreement but assuming there’s a point in which one of the circuits splits off from the rest I do see the supreme court stepping in at that point,”  Dupuis told AM 1170 WFDL’s Between the Lines.
