The Department of Public Works would like to notify the motoring public of street closures due to the City’s Manhole Rehabilitation Project and utility repair. The northbound traffic lane and parking on South Military Road will be closed between Hickory Street and C&N Railroad Tracks. The closure will begin Tuesday, October 14th and continue through Friday, October 17th. Traffic will be detoured north on Hickory Street, east on Western Avenue back to Military Road. Southbound traffic will not be detoured. Additionally, there will be periodic lane shifts on Military Road throughout the week of October 13-17 that will affect both lanes of traffic. Local access will be maintained. Additionally, City crews will be closing Grove Street west of Seymour Street to repair a sanitary lateral. The closure will begin Monday, October 13 and is expected to re-open Wednesday, October 15th. Motorists are asked to find an alternate route during this time as a detour will not be posted.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
