A search warrant filed in Fond du lac County shows a suspect in the cold case homicide of Berit Beck left his fingerprints on several items found in Beck’s van. The Fond du lac County Sheriff’s Office held a press conference in April to say they had tangible, physical evidence that put over the road trucker Dennis Brantner in Beck’s van. The 18 year old Beck was murdered in July 1990 after stopping at the Fond du Lac Forest Mall while on her way from Sturdevant to a work seminar in Appleton. Also according to the warrant a co-worker said he saw a photo in Brantner’s toolbox that he thought was Beck. Brantner told him the girl was his daughter. According to the warrant Brantner does not have a daughter.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
