A Fond du Lac area man involved in an armed domestic standoff has been charged. Thirty one year old James Walsh made his initial Fond du lac court appearance Tuesday afternoon on charges of first degree recklessly endangering safety, possession of a firearm while intoxicated, misdemeanor battery-domestic abuse and disorderly conduct-domestic abuse. Bail was set at $60,000 cash. Nobody was injured in the incident . The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office received a call shortly after 2am of a report of shots fired at a residence on Lost Arrow Road. The SWAT team was called and Walsh was taken into custody without incident after about a five hour standoff.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
