10-20-14 governor’s race-economy

todayOctober 19, 2014

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Democrat Mary Burke accuses Governor Scott Walker of mismanaging the state’s finances during their second and final debate in Wisconsin’s hotly contested governor’s race.  Walker defended his record during Friday’s debate by pointing to an unemployment rate that’s the lowest it’s been since the recession in 2008 and the addition of more than 110,000 jobs on his watch, including 8,400 last month.  Walker has touted the roughly $2 billion in taxes he’s signed into law the past four years, while Burke argues that’s contributed to the projected shortfall.  Burke says Walker has spent money the state doesn’t have.  Burke and Walker debated in Milwaukee just 18 days before the November 4th election.
