MILWAUKEE (AP) Doctors disagree over whether the second of two 12-year-old girls accused of stabbing a classmate to please a fictional horror character is fit to stand trial. A Wisconsin judge said Wednesday that he received a report from a state doctor who believes the girl could help with her defense. But her public defender says another doctor believes she’s not mentally able to do so. Waukesha County Judge Michael Bohren scheduled another hearing for Dec. 18 because the state’s doctor was not in court to testify Wednesday. Prosecutors say the two girls plotted for months to kill their classmate before luring the child to a wooded park after a sleepover and stabbing her 19 times. The attacked happened in Waukesha, west of Milwaukee.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
