A former Florida man who recently moved to Fond du Lac has been chargeed in connection with a shooting incident in downtown Fond du Lac. Marcus Britton made his initial Fond du lac court appearance Thursday. Bail was set at $40,000 cash. Police chief Bill Lamb says the 29 year old Britton was arrested Tuesday night in connection with a report of shots fired in the area of 6th and Main Streets shortly before 11pm September 28th: Police say there were no reports of injuries. Britton has an extensive criminal record that includes carjacking, armed robbery, battery and drug trafficking.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
