The Fond du Lac School Board has approved a budget that includes a decrease in the tax levy. Superintendent Dr. Jim Sebert says the budget includes a 3.8 percent decrease in the levy or nearly $1.3 million less than the 2013-14 budget and a five percent decrease in the Mill rate. That’s a decrease of about $51 on a $100,000 home. Sebert says the budget is balanced with no cuts in programs or services.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
