The Fond du lac Board has voted to ban e-cigarettes in county buildings. The board voted on the issue at their meeting Tuesday night. County executive Al Buechel says while e-cigarettes are not a tobacco product there are still unanswered questions about its safety and the second hand vapor. “No one has established whether they are healthy or unhealthy,” Buechel told WFDL news. Buechel says allowing e-cigarettes in county buildings would create confusion over enforcement for the public and law enforcement. “My concern is that people are using these and it appears that they are smoking and so its very hard to enforce.” Republican state lawmaker Glen Grothman introduced a bill in the last legislative session that would exempt e-cigarettes from the statewide smoking ban.
