11-1-14 governor-wi trek ads

todayNovember 1, 2014

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Late ads in Wisconsin’s race for governor focus on Democrat Mary Burke’s departure from her family’s company, Trek Bicycles.  Burke disputed a claim this week from Trek’s former co-president, Tom Albers, that she was fired in 1993 as head of overseas operations because the company was losing money.  The Wisconsin Chamber of Commerce is overhauling an ad attacking Burke’s performance as state Commerce secretary to include the claim. Chamber spokesman Jim Pugh says the ad is going out to TV stations Friday.  Burke’s campaign is launching its own ad attacking a different Trek executive, Gary Ellerman, who first said publicly that Burke was fired. The ad plays up Ellerman’s GOP background and says Trek fired him for incompetence.
