With the winter heating season now upon us in Wisconsin, several fire safety advocates have teamed up to raise awareness of the law in Wisconsin which requires that carbon monoxide detectors be installed in all dwellings where carbon monoxide may be produced including one and two family dwellings. Fond du Lac Fire Chief Pete O’Leary says Carbon monoxide (CO) is a colorless, odorless and tasteless gas which if not detected early can render humans sick and in some cases, the poisoning can be deadly.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
