11-14-14 jail incident shows dangers inherent in the job

todayNovember 14, 2014

A Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Lieutenant says an incident in the Fond du Lac County Jail shows how dangerous the job can be for corrections officers.  Roy Whitelow of Milwaukee was sentenced this week to four years in prison for injuring a Fond du Lac County Jail Corrections officer.  Sheriff’s lieutenant Cameron McGee says the officer was injured when a fight broke out as the officer was attempting to get a DNA sample from the suspect.  “Corrections officers that work in the jail, they’ve got a pretty tough job,” McGee said.  “They’re dealing with multiple offenders and people of different status back in the jail.  The speed they (jailers) run is about 100 mph at all times.”
