Fire has destroyed a building that housed a fast food restaurant and gas station in Lomira. Firefighters from 11 agencies helped battle the blaze at the Burger King and BP station Friday morning. The building is part of the BP Hi-Way Hop complex near Highway 41. The fire sent black smoke billowing in the area. Departments assisting Lomira firefighters include Brownsville, Knowles, Theresa, Eden, Kewaskum, Kekoskee, Campbellsport, Mayville, Fond du Lac and Oakfield.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
