Two hundred turkeys, hams and other main course meats fill the Salvation Army freezer, in part, because of the Turkey Round Up. The Salvation Army collaborated with Sunny 97-7, AM1170, 96-1 TCX and grocers to create Saturday, November 15. “What a tremendous combined effort Saturday was,” Social Service Director Ron Jacobson said. “The community continues to respond each time we extend an invitation to share with those who need our help,” Though some shoppers seized the opportunity to contribute while Salvation Army was on hand at Piggly Wiggly, Pick ‘N Save -Pioneer and Festival, donations are still welcome at The Salvation Army through November 26. 700 families have requested Thanksgiving meals. The Salvation Army is located at 237 N. Macy Street. Phone 923-8220 to arrange pick up of large donations.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
