MANITOWOC, Wis. (AP) — Manitowoc County sheriff’s officials have identified the victims of a weekend highway crash. Authorities say 21-year-old Andrew Preston, of Whitelaw, and 23-year-old Casey Schamburek, of Reedsville, died when their vehicle left county Highway K in the Town of Maple Grove early Saturday and struck a tree. Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene. Sheriff’s officials say alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
